The birth of Mama Jeka's Pizza was an act of resilience and creativity, conceived by Ms Jescar during a challenging pandemic period. Originally meant to be a small project to bring in a little extra bread (pun intended!), it quickly became a labor of love that kept her family afloat during a year-long unpaid hiatus.
Ms Jescar's culinary fascination, particularly her penchant for all things Italian, served as the perfect sauce base for her pizza venture. She craved the authenticity of original Neapolitan pizza but wasn't about to play it by the book. She decided to give this classic a zesty makeover, choosing to mix in local ingredients, thereby crafting a pizza that's as delicious as it's unique. It's the pizza you know and love, just with a Mama Jeka's spin!
A Little Taste of Napoli
From Clicks to Bricks Mama Jeka's Pizza started off as a humble online delivery service. But as they say, "Family and pizza – they go together like cheese and pepperoni." Her brother, Lewis, hopped on the pizza wagon, bringing his culinary flair to the table. Now, he's the wizard behind the oven and the head honcho at Mama Jeka's.
Fueled by their delectable pizza deliveries and a generous dash of parental support, Jescar was able to turn her homey operation into a full-fledged pizzeria. Right in the heart of Salasala, Dar es Salaam, they set up a cozy little spot that's a pizza lover's paradise, blending tribal charm with a boho-chic vibe.
The dough was tossed, the oven was fired, and Mama Jeka's officially swung open its doors for dine-in on the 23rd of October, 2021. Pizza history was made, and the rest, as they say, is cheesy goodness.
